In this chapter I will present more helmets from the Claude Chimène collection. Model 1934, different gladiator helmet types (M38 and M44) and M35, M40 and M42 beaded type helmets. All of them used by para-military organisations.
Helmet model 38 called "gladiator" used by the Luftchutz
Helmet model 38 called "gladiator " used by the Luftchutz personal.
This model is made in three pieces: the upper shell, the visor and the rear part.
On this helmet we can see the liner is of poor quality, and that all materials were recovered and used again :
laces, printed fabric and even a coat button which was placed on the chinstrap.
Maker markings are not visible. (Claude Chimène Collection).
M42 beaded helmet used by Luftschutz.
M42 beaded helmet used by theLUFTSCHUTZ.
One of scarce model used by the Luftschutz. This one has a three pads liner with oil-cloth/printed fabric and lace.
The chinstrap is of late production and it's made of "clear supronband". Maker markings are not possible to read.
(Claude Chimène Collection).
M42 beaded helmet used by Luftschutz.
M42 beaded helmet used by the Luftschutz.
A scarce model used by the Luftschutz. The helmet has three pad liners made of oilcloth/printed fabric and lace. The chinstrap is made of leather. Maker markings are not possible to read. (Claude Chimène Collection).
Helmet model 38 "gladiator" used by the Luftchutz
Helmet model 38 "gladiator" used by the Luftchutz personal. This model is made of three pieces: the upper shell, the visor and the rear part. A nice leather liner (9 pads size 56 ) with chinstrap is held by 3 rivets.
The interior still has its sales label at the price of 8 Reichmark and size. (Claude Chimène Collection).
Helmet M44 "gladiator" used by Luftschutz
Helmet M44 "gladiator" made in one piece. Used by the Luftschutz. Very rare in this version with Luftschutz decal. The helmet has a poor quality liner with a chinstrap made of "transparent supronband". Note the round corkspacers, typical of late-war productions. No manufacturer markings on the shell. (Claude Chimène Collection).
M40 beaded helmet used by the Luftschutz
Beaded M40 helmet used by the Luftschutz. Luftschutz decal on the front (model introduced in 1936 to replace the RLB insignia). Liner size 56 - Markings maker : EF64 lot nr. 10288. (Claude Chimène Collection).
M35 beaded helmet used by the Luftschutz
Beaded M35 helmet used by the Luftschutz. Decal on the front (decal introduced in 1936 to replace the RLB insignia). Liner size 56. Manufacturer maker : Q62 lot nr. 3175 (Claude Chimène Collection).
Helmet model 1934 used by the RBL & Luftschutz
Helmet model 1934 with two pressed "salt & pepper shaker" vents. The paint color is of mat grey blue, the same color of the DRK helmets. Particularity in front, there are two decals: The RLB used from 1933 to 1936, and the later Luftschutz decal which replaced the first in 1936. It seems the RBL member simply placed the new Luftschutz decal under old RBL decal. No maker markings on shell. To give it a raised appearance, the helmet visor has been deformed. (Claude Chimène Collection).
